Full Time On Call Caregiver
Visiting Angels Mainline is currently seeking an amazing HHA or CNA to service clients in and around the Mainline area.
Position Summary
The On-Call Caregiver provides non-medical personal care and companionship to clients in their homes on an as-needed basis. This role is essential in supporting last-minute coverage needs, call-outs, short shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations. The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, and committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. This position would be based from our Mainline office in Havertown but requires coverage in all office locations as and when needed; Jenkintown, Chadds Ford, Mainline, Philadelphia, King of Prussia and Horsham locations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide non-medical personal care services, including:
- Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Mobility assistance and transfers
- Meal preparation and feeding assistance
- Light housekeeping and laundry related to client care
- Medication reminders (no administration)
- Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients
- Assist with errands and transportation, as assigned
- Observe and report changes in client condition to the office staff
- Follow individualized care plans and agency policies
- Maintain client confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Respond promptly to on-call requests and arrive on time for assigned shifts
- Perform office and administrative tasks as assigned by supervisor when not working on a client shift
- Must have reliable personal transportation and the ability to travel independently to client locations throughout all assigned territories. Regular travel between service areas is required to meet client and business needs.
Schedule & Availability
- This is a full time role; Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm. You must be able to report to the Havertown office daily and be available to participate in on-call coverage as scheduled, which may include accepting short-notice assignments. On-call responsibilities may require providing coverage across all Greater Philadelphia Visiting Angels locations as needed to support client care and operational needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous caregiving, home care, or related experience required
- Experience with Dementia, Hospice and all personal care is required.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, if required to transport clients
- Must be able to pass required background checks and pre-employment screening processes
- Must be physically able to safely assist clients with mobility, personal care, and activities of daily living
- Strong communication and time-management skills required
- Must demonstrate compassion, patience, and dependability in client care interactions
Work Environment
- Services are provided in client residences or settings where the client resides or considers home, including private homes, assisted living communities, and other care facilities within the Visiting Angels service territories. Employees must be able to travel to and work within these various environments as part of their assigned duties.
- This role requires the ability to perform physical job functions, including prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as frequent bending, lifting, and assisting clients with transfers and mobility support in accordance with safe care practices and training guidelines.
- Must be ok to work with all Pets, including, but not limited to Cats, Dogs and reptiles
- Must be able and willing to provide care in a variety of home environments, including residences where smoking may occur. Employees may be exposed to secondhand smoke and other environmental conditions commonly found in private homes while performing assigned job duties.
- Must be able and willing to provide care and support to clients with a variety of cognitive, neurological, and chronic health conditions, including but not limited to dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other age-related or medically complex diagnoses. Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and the ability to follow individualized care plans to meet each client's unique needs.
- Must demonstrate competency in providing advanced personal care services, including the safe operation of Hoyer lifts and other mechanical transfer devices, as well as the care and maintenance of Foley catheters, ostomy bags, and other client-specific medical support needs in accordance with company policies, training requirements, and applicable regulations.
